Many new car purchasers have been shocked with the cost of insurance for that perfect car. That high powered red Mustang convertable might seem cool for a 19 year old college student, until he (or his dad) has to pay the insurance bill.

More than one teenage driver has found themselves caught in the circular trap of needing a car to get to the job that they need to have to pay for the car and the auto insurance. I'm sure that teenagers are not the only ones that find themselves in this position as people try to keep up with their contemporaries.

The same holds true for a car's gasoline consumption and maintenance costs. While SUV's are a fad now, unless you really need such a vehicle, you will find that the gas and maintenance costs can be substantial.

When shopping for a used car, be sure to research the safety and maintenance records of different models. You can find this type of information in magazines such as Consumer Reports or insurance company publications.

So be sure that the car you buy is within your means, including the cost of insurance, gas and maintenance of the used car.

How to purchase used car

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/RxdzPAWlDYI/AAAAAAAAAXE/UIKA8hE4RoI/s320/sp62248.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="mazda lantis" />
Buying a used car is a bit trickier than buying a new car although you can follow most of the same guidelines for both.

First, know what car you have in mind. Research the car. There is a wealth of information online. Check the car manufacturers web site, consumer reports and the edmunds.com. web site. Know the approximate value of the car before you head out to the dealer. Go to your bank or to your credit union before you go shopping and see how much money they'll be able to lend you on a used car. This way you'll have a much better idea what you can realistically spend.

Realize that there are many different models of the same car. You may not find exactly the car with all the extras you want, or the exact color, but you may find something close that is a great deal.

Most dealers are upright and honest when selling used cars. They offer limited warranties with them. In the case of luxury end cars a lot of them still have warranties in effect when you purchase them.

If you are buying from a private seller ask to see service records. Go online and order a carfax car history report. Find out if the car will be sold "as is" or already state inspected. When you are serious about a used car make sure that you have time to take the car to your mechanic for him to give the car the once over, especially if it's being sold "as is". You don't need to find out after the fact that it needs many more repairs than you thought. You can't tell just by a visual inspection.

The cosmetics of the car are an important factor in determining it's value. Cars are generally rated as being in good, fair or excellent condition. However, especially when purchasing from a private seller you'll find that these ratings vary, sometimes greatly.

Whatever you do, don't let anyone pressure you into making a quick decision, especially a private seller. If you hear something like "I already have someone else who's willing to give me a down payment" let the car go. Stick to your guns, and your budget. If you don't get this car it wasn't meant to be and there will always be another, and better one.

BUY USED CAR TIPS

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/R2OKb4YfhvI/AAAAAAAAA2s/BoYs1U_FWaM/s320/Galant+2.jpg" border="0" alt="drive tips"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5144107410983454450" />
There are many things that you don't want to see an automobile dealership do to you as a buyer, but there are some things that you should not do as well, if you don't want to alienate the dealer.

Here is a list of "don'ts" that you should abide by if you are really looking to get a good new or used car deal.

Don't try to pull one over on the dealer by lying about the condition of your trade in vehicle. Wind, snow, ice and blizzard conditions increase the normal dangers of driving. There is a lot you can do before the winter driving season and during a storm to protect yourself and your family.

Before winter arrives, have your car inspected to be sure it is ready for the road conditions. You can do this yourself or take it to a qualified mechanic. Check the battery, wipers and fluid, thermostat, brakes, ignition system, antifreeze, exhaust system, lights, oil level, heater and defrosters. Make sure everything is in good working order to keep you safe throughout the cold weather.

Check your tires to be sure they are road ready. Install tires that are appropriate for the driving conditions. In moderate amounts of snow, all weather radials will do the job nicely. If you live in a climate where you experience a lot of snow, consider snow tires. These have better tread to deal with snow and ice.

Prepare an emergency kit to keep in the back of your car. This will ensure that you are prepared in the event that you get stuck in the snow. Things to include in the kit:

Ice scraper
Small broom
Small shovel
Kitty litter or a bag of sand (to give traction if you get stuck in snow or ice)
Blankets or a sleeping bag
Flashlight with batteries
Flares or warning triangles
Plastic bags
First aid kit
Tool kit
Jumper cables
Bright cloth to use as a flag
Help sign for back window
Extra hat and gloves
Food and water to sustain you if you get stuck
A book, Bible or Prayer Cards to keep you busy and calm in the event you get stuck.
Charged cell phone (always carry this, especially in the winter)

Keep your gas tank at least half full at all times. This adds weight to the car and will ensure that you won’t run out of gas in the event you get stuck.

Driving in the Snow

Pay attention to the weather forecasts and road conditions in the winter months. If the weather is bad, stay home if at all possible. If you must venture out, travel in the daylight. You are more likely to find help if you get stuck during the day. Never warm up your vehicle in the garage. This releases carbon monoxide, which is toxic and can kill you.

When driving, always wear your seatbelt. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare of the sun reflecting off the snow. Know your car and how it handles in the snow. Features like traction control and antilock brakes can be useful in bad weather conditions. Know how these work and if your car is new, practice driving it in a snow covered parking lot before venturing out on the road.

Take it slow, especially in icy conditions. Don’t tailgate and be sure to allow a safe distance between vehicles. Do everything slowly, stopping, accelerating and turning. Leave plenty of time and space to maneuver. Sliding and skidding usually happen when turning, stopping or accelerating. Going extra slow will ensure your safety.

If the visibility is low, slow down even more. Consider getting off highways and driving even slower. This will take you out of the path of large trucks that can cause accidents. Use only your low beams, as your high beams will reflect back off the snow and won’t increase your visibility. Turn on your hazard lights to be sure other drivers see you.

In the event your car gets stuck, don’t get out. Put up the hood and tie your cloth to the antennae. This will make you more visible to emergency vehicles and other drivers. Keep the windows, air grill and tail pipe clear of snow. Wrap up in blankets and huddle up with passengers to stay warm. Run the heat for fifteen minutes each hour to keep from freezing. Move your body around to stay warm.

Keeping your car clean throughout the winter is important. Salt on the roads is important for safety, but will wreak havoc on the finish. If left on for long periods, it can cause rusting. Wash your vehicle weekly to remove salt and wax to protect the paint. Salt also leaves a coating on your headlights that can impair their operation. This will make you less visible to other vehicles. If CO2 emissions can ever smaller half of agricultural production and crops such as maize, according to the bioethanol, is a good chance the soup of the day menu of alternative fuels. However, there are other complications, such as the inflation of prices for basic foods on the increase in food shortages because of the food was diverted. Of course you have to decide whether that's really helpful bioethanol in the form of its "green claims".

What is this, and is so clean?

Bioethanol, also known under the name of ethyl alcohol, is a non-fossil fuels with high octane number with fewer emissions than gasoline. Made from renewable agricultural sources, there is a fuel for their own internal combustion engines. Hydrous ethanol contains water and can be regarded as a substitute for gasoline, but requires a change of the engine. Dehydrated ethanol can be use in shares of 5% (E5) in 85% (E85). Most cars today can E5, Flex and vehicles (FFVs) to use E85. The two can be mixed with conventional fuels.

Not that the production of energy, and you are concerned about the large number of land necessary to ensure the crops. Another concern is whether this version biofuels more carbon dioxide into the air, can be absorbed by plants in growth. A better solution would be a process currently in preparation for the United States that the waste such as waste paper is made from sugar and then into ethanol. This is the case in many ethical, environmental and financial issues related to the production of bioethanol.

How can we do?

Bioethanol is a process for manufacturing the fermentation of biomass, contains sugar and starch. The cane is in the tropical regions, particularly in Europe of wheat, corn and is produced in the United States and Brazil. The adjustment and procedures for distillation, which in turn into a form biomass concentrated and removes the by-products, which are not necessary in the fuel itself The disadvantage of bioethanol, as mentioned above, the use of fertile soil for food, the Prices for food and usable land falls to grow more food. It was an important concern, for certain categories of environmental influences on the rest garbage waste from the production of bioethanol as the pollution in bioethonal, as the Gulf of Mexico through the Mississippi River. This is of course an argument is very green in the camp of fuel against the production of bioethanol and use. Despite the negative aspects that, if the problems were how to use it and where the cultures evolve, and, of course, that the treatment of waste, bio-ethanol is very powerful to clean a fuel replacement. It is hoped that the oil price continues to over 10 U.S. dollars all necessary means bioethanol is the most efficient, clean and attractive on the economy as possible.

Keep Your Vehicle in Good Condition, Even If You Do Not Use it

The increase in the cost of fuel is a real challenge for car or motorcycle owners around the world. Extra head and leg room for a coupe car! One of the few, (if not the only) car with a V6 that is recommended by manufacturer to run off normal fuel.(not high octane!)

Bad Points: If you've got a heavy foot you might want to reconsider the car as it burns a lot of gas! I personally don't like the trunk of the car when it doesn't have spoiler but if it does then it's a beauty!

General comments: To be honest - personally speaking I could not ask for anything better! and I will not change this car with anything else. (Well unless you want to give me a Ferrari f350 or something! lol) but yeah. There are only 500 of this model in Canada. The gear box is the same technology and concept as honda/acura NSX. It is very tight, short and aggressive. I have fallen in love with the shifting gear of this car alone! You have to drive it to feel it. Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that this is eventually a Honda so it is easy to modify since you can pretty much find anything with reasonable prices if you're into that kind of stuff! (even though more specific things like cat back and all could get pretty expensive as there are not too many of these cars made! If you want a family car, with POWER and enough room, this could also be the right car for you. Even though two adults would not be that really comfortable to sit in the back two kids will definitely be comfortable taking a ride in this car. The optional navigation system is one of a kind as it is voice activated. All over the biggest bang for the buck!

Honda Parts Meet the Standards of the Reduction of Fuel Emissions

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/R4YVvoYfikI/AAAAAAAABCI/KEJDkULMC98/s320/Hybrid+15.jpg" border="0" alt="honda parts picture"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5153830731610294850" />
by: Jenny McLane

Honda Parts - Honda ties up with SELEV, “Study of Extremely Low Emission Vehicles”, a Riverside program hosted by the University of California, which shows the advantage of upgrading the internal combustion engine technology in the reduction of vehicle emissions. Several years ago, this reduction to some level has been conceived impossible but due to the advancements in technology nowadays everything is made possible and tangible to some extent.

Two years ago, this program has been launched primarily for the dwindling environmental condition as the main reason. Among the concerned partners of SELEV are the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and the Manufacturers of Emission Controls Association. The university’s College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT) spearheads this innovative research. The study has been endowed by at least $10 million from Ford as a donation. The amount has been of great help for the researchers in their tactics of finding ways of lessening the fuel emissions of the new-generation vehicles so as not to add up with the already degrading air pollution that poses great risk to the people’s health.

Going environment-friendly, no wonder, Honda Motors Corporation continues to launch and introduce to the buying public low-emission vehicles such as that of the latest Honda Accord and the rest of the new-generation vehicles in its fleet. Due to the successful study and promotion of the technology that tests vehicle emissions at lower levels, another milestone in the automotive era poses significant measures and likewise challenges the entire realm of auto manufacturers in the automobile world.

"Ten years ago, nobody thought gasoline ULEVS and SULEVs would be possible," says Dr. Joseph Norbeck, director of CE-CERT. "Now they're becoming common, and it's clear the emissions reductions they offer are significant." This SELEV project allows car engineers, designers, and manufacturers the understanding of the improvement in air quality when new-generation vehicles possess extremely low emissions, thus, give off less dangerous pollutants that could harm the environment and the people therein.

Shopping for your Honda parts has been tremendously made easy by the easy-to-navigate site provided by the trusted and leading replacement, OEM, and aftermarket parts factory that does business online. It is just a lie that you can't get away with, and could cause many cost increases later.

Don't bother looking for a car that will require financing if you have had a recent bankruptcy because you will not get an auto loan approved anyway.

Don't give the automobile dealership a deposit and then try to take it back for no reason because you should have researched the car before making the purchase. You can also lose money on the return.

Don't bother lying about your debt load and credit rating because they will check it anyway.

Don't offer any money for a car unless you already know the dealer cost because you are setting yourself up to get ripped off.
If you will follow the tips above when buying a new or used car, the rest of your negotiations will go much smoother.

One more thing you should not do that is not part of the negotiation with the salesperson, and that is, don't forget the cost of automobile insurance.

Transporting Your Exotic Car

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/R2OJA4YfhuI/AAAAAAAAA2k/9LHR0gQAEzE/s320/drivetiptexotic.JPG" border="0" alt="exotic car transports"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5144105847615358690" />
Exotic car transport is a growing branch of the car transport industry, a specialized field that includes auto exotic car transporters of custom-built automobiles, luxury cars, antique autos, exotic cars, and prototypes. Exotic car transport companies utilize state of the art satellite tracking and mobile phones to keep track of your vehicle every mile of the way. 'It's very important to continue pursuing substantial reductions in fuel consumption and emissions, while continuing to improve performance and driving pleasure. Our customers wouldn't have it any other way.

It will be a rear wheel drive full hybrid making it able to travel at low speeds under electric propulsion alone. Lexus says the GS 450h will have gas mileage similar to the average 2-liter, 4-cylinder compact sedan.

The Lexus GS 450h is a Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle. A SULEV-rated vehicle is 90% cleaner than the average new car.

The GS 450h will have a 3.5-liter V6 engine combined with a high-output electric motor--all driving the rear wheels--to pack horsepower at the level of a V8 engine. Lexus says it will have horsepower equivalent to a 4.5 liter V8. 0-60 acceleration is expected to be less than 6 seconds. For perspective, the 2006 GS 430 has a 4.3-liter V8 that has 300 horsepower.

It's built on the GS 430 platform and offers similar standard equipment and options, including a sunroof and perforated leather seats. It is visually identical to the GS 430, except for a large air dam on the front bumper to cool the electric motor, a power meter on the dashboard instead of an odometer, and 18-inch light-alloy wheels.

Hybrid technology, driving dynamics, motoring comfort and generous space inside redefines the new Lexus GS450h. Featuring more powerful and fuel efficient engines, innovative assistance systems, a wide range of safety features, as well as a superior standard of equipment, the new Toyota Lexus of today need no less than superior BMW replacement parts when the need arises.

This is where Parts Train comes in. The three aspects which all engine overheat factors have in common are that they cause that the heating system can not get rid of heat, they cause a loss of coolant or they directly cause too much heat in the engine.

One first problem which might be the cause of an engine overheat is a problem with the radiator cap and the pressure it holds. If the radiator cap does not hold pressure correctly then coolant could boil and therefore the engine would overheat. Another reason might be caused by thermostat failures; it is recommendable that you check it.

The car engine might also overheat due to coolant leaks such as those from the radiator, the hoses, the water pump, the freeze plugs or any others. Also, problems in the water pump could be the cause and therefore you should check it and replace it in case it is needed.

Some other reasons by which the car engine could overheat are problems in the exhaust system which you can discover by checking vacuum readings, pipes and converter. Besides, you should also make sure that the radiator hose has not collapsed and the ignition timing is working properly.

You should also check the electric cooling fan by making sure that the fan motor, the relay and temperature are correct or otherwise it could cause the engine to overheat. Besides this, you should also check the radiator in case there are any debris in it as well as you should check its hose in case it has collapsed.

It is also recommendable that you check the antifreeze concentration which should be 50/50 in order to be correct, otherwise it could cause the car engine to overheat. If you do not find why your engine does overheat, you should ask a mechanic or an expert for advice. You should not try to fix this if you do not have the proper tools and general car knowledge necessary for it.

2006 Honda Civic Si: Automotive Innovation at its Best, Complemented with Honda Parts from Parts Train
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/R1nfU5LHcZI/AAAAAAAAAy4/_iWtnriFlBQ/s320/honda-civic-si-concept-20050210033327624.jpg" border="0" alt="civic si"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5141385999657955730" />
Designed as an "Advanced Personal Compact," the next-generation Si will incorporate flowing bodywork, a steeply angled windshield, and wide stance to suggest stability and forward motion. The new Si will be the fastest and most powerful Civic offered in its twenty-year history. The 2006 Civic lineup, launching this fall, will include a 4-door Sedan, a 2-door Coupe and Si Coupe, an even more fuel efficient Civic Hybrid and a natural-gas powered Civic GX.

The Civic Si Concept builds on its performance heritage with a 200-horsepower, 16-valve, and DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000-rpm red line, mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission. Helping to put all that power to the ground is a helical-type limited slip differential for improved launch traction and cornering performance.
A 200-horsepower 16-valve i-VTEC engine powers the 2006 Si. Honda sources indicate that next-generation i-VTEC technology will have significant gains in performance and fuel economy. A six-speed transmission will give drivers manual control of shift points up to the engine's redline of 8000 rpm, and a helical-type limited-slip differential will enhance traction and cornering ability.
The Si Concept includes performance features such as 18-inch cast aluminum wheels with 225/40R high performance tires, and 4-wheel disc brakes with large cross-drilled brake rotors. "The 2006 Civic Si Coupe will be the most powerful, fastest and fun-to-drive Si we've ever put on the street, and the Civic Si Concept sets the direction in terms of its styling, package and performance," said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. "It's part of a new family of Civic vehicles that build on the already class-leading values of the Civic in terms of safety, styling, performance and fuel efficiency."
This new production Civic Si Coupe will serve as the performance leader for the 2006 Civic model lineup, which will be completely redesigned. The 2006 Civic will feature more emotional styling, enhanced performance, and the latest generation of "intelligent" i-VTEC engine technology.
One of the leading Honda Parts suppliers is Parts Train. Do you pay attention to it? Do you feel that slight shimmy in the front end? Is there a new knocking sound under the hood? Is there a rattle in the dashboard? No one knows your car better than you do. If you feel something different, or if it isn't handling correctly take it to your mechanic. It could be something as simple as a tire out of alignment, or perhaps a loose belt. It's always best to find any small problem before it becomes a large one.

Here are some simple maintenance tips that you can follow to help prolong the life of your car, and help save you money. read more

Pssst.. Be aware that about five years ago an International Oil Company did a follow up on 5,000 cars it had turned back after 3 year leases and traced them to their eventual private owners. All the cars had by then passed through wholesale auction markets and likely one or more retail dealers before being sold to a private owner. The survey disclosed that 50% of the cars had their odometers illegally turned back.

When buying a used car, supposedly with 40,000 miles for example, and determining it has a rubber timing belt, insist on a written guarantee from the seller to guarantee in writing to replace the timing belt at no charge if it fails within another 20,000 miles, a typical recommended total amount (Call any Dealer to get the recommended amount for the particular make of vehicle). After all, the vehicle may in fact already have 55,000 miles on it. If the seller will not make that guarantee, then he is admitting that the mileage is probably not accurate and by implication may well have been turned back. If the seller will not make that guarantee, consider a compromise, such as $100 maximum cost. If not acceptable, walk away and look elsewhere."

Before buying any car, especially 4-cylinder foreign cars, or even 6-cyl. BMW, be aware of the unavoidable cost of $400-$800 to replace the timing belt at anywhere from 50,000 to 70,000 miles if the car has an 'interference' type of engine. The sales person will invariably not mention that an 'interference' type engine powers the vehicle and may not even know what one is. If a timing belt on an interference engine is not replaced at recommended intervals, the repair cost when the belt breaks (not gradually, but always catastrophically) could increase to $3,000 to $5,000 due to engine failure because parts have smashed into each other

An 'interference' engine is an engine design that has been avoided by some manufacturers for well over 80 years. General Motors, Chrysler, etc., typically use a metal chain-type timing belt on push-rod engines (often called a timing chain) to transmit torque from the engine crankshaft o the engine camshaft that opens the valves that admit air and fuel. (Note: on some new cars the fuel is admitted not through the valves but through injectors in the top of the cylinder. Rather than use a steel timing chain, interference engines may use a rubber timing belt with its limited life, whereas steel timing belts typically last 150,000 to 200,000 miles or more.

Valves open further in an interference engine and project further into the combustion chamber than in a 'free-running' engine. This allows outside air at atmospheric pressure flow faster into the combustion chamber through the larger valve opening. The engine can therefore inhale more air, be a little smaller, and still create as much power while reducing its. manufactured cost and also guaranteeing future repair business for its dealer. If a rubber timing belt breaks by not being replaced soon enough, some of the valves stuck in their open position will collide with the top of the pistons, thereby breaking or irreversibly damaging one or the other or both. To make matters worse, it is not possible to measure the wear on such a rubber belt so that it could be replaced when there is some indication of imminent failure. Failure in these belts is catastrophic, without warning. This will require a whole new engine be installed. Woe to the owner. Finally, the rubber belt may have to be replaced long before 60,000 miles solely due to its age. This is really playing a bad poker hand. Interference engines are like a time bomb waiting to explode unless replacing the timing belt at the recommended interval. Be aware of that guaranteed future expense before buying a new car, or especially a used car, " with such an engine.

Drive slower, save the planet!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/RxdxygWlDWI/AAAAAAAAAW0/2rOqlVRea8M/s320/whatiscvcc6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="honda steering" />
The environment is a hot issue that we just can’t afford to ignore any longer. To some, being environmentally aware is a way of life, a necessary and fundamental aspect of existence. To others being ‘green’ is something to aspire to, a lifestyle that with a bit of guidance could be achievable.

Young people have been brought up in a culture of ecological revelations, such as the depletion of the ozone layer and melting polar ice caps. We all know that these things are still happening yet we’ve still got a long way to go before the impacts of modern society on our planet are decelerated. Our parents weren’t particularly clued up about the effect that peoples’ actions have on their environment and recycling was certainly never an option in many houses in the 80s and 90s. However, these days we do have the resources and the knowledge to make little changes that can improve the planet for the better. If we can slow down on the road then we might be able to slow down climate change.

High levels of Co2 emissions are one of the biggest influencers of climate change and environmental damage. Exhaust emissions contain a myriad of chemicals which clog up the atmosphere and cause long term damage to our surroundings. Aviation contributes to a large proportion of the damage. Each jet requires hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel to get to its destination. Short of getting to your holiday resort by rail, a bit tricky if you’re off to the Maldives, there is little that you or I can do about aviation emissions. However, drivers can make a massive difference to the environment by taking a few steps to reduce their emissions and help reduce harmful pollution.

You can reduce the amount of fuel you use by up to 25% by changing some of your habits. Driving is expensive, with the cost of car insurance, road tax and fuel to consider. It’s not difficult to alter your lifestyle; we owe it to our future offspring and more importantly right now, we owe it to our pockets! Whilst we may not live long enough to see the benefit to the environment we can feel the immediate benefit to our pockets.

By being slightly more conscientious drivers we can all make a huge difference. Follow these tips from www.hootcarinsurance.co.uk and you’ll soon help protect the planet and feel the immediate payback in your pocket.

• Keep a steady speed when driving; by reducing the use of your pedals you reduce the use of fuel.

• Anticipate conditions, and accelerate and decelerate efficiently. This is safer and uses less fuel. It is also proven that you won’t get to your destination faster by speeding. According to Earteasy.com the most fuel-efficient speed for your car is roughly 55 mph, or 90 km/h. Increasing your speed from 55 mph to 75 mph boosts your fuel consumption a stunning 20 percent!

• If you are in traffic or caught behind railway gates, then turn off your engine. Idling uses up a great deal of fuel especially when some train gates stay down for as long as ten minutes.

• Keep your tyres pumped up to the correct level. This will save you up to 4% fuel.

• Maintain your car and change the air filter as recommended by the manufacturers’ guidelines.

• If at all possible, car share to work, this will save you money and give you a clear conscience! Some companies arrange car share schemes as do some local councils. See www.nationalcarshare.co.uk and www.liftshare.co.uk for more information.

• Walk to work if you live nearby. Not only will this keep you fit but you’ll also save fuel and money.

• Buy a car with a small engine. This will not only cut emissions but also means really cheap car insurance, cheaper tax and manoeuvrability in busy towns. Driving a 4x4 means 50% less fuel efficiency, so unless you are a farmer and regularly go off road, there really is no need to drive a gas guzzling vehicle in urban areas. By the way spray on mud is a dead giveaway!

So, we can all cut our costs and save the planet at the same time by making a few changes to the way we drive, but what about the future of fuel? Surely driving more slowly can’t be the only solution?

The future of travel

There are some innovative new energy solutions, new engine designs and hybrid car concepts which are set to take off in the years to come.

Hybrid cars are vehicles that have an ordinary combustion engine combined with another energy source such as batteries or electricity. The alternative energy source takes over from the engine when it is inefficient, such as during long slow drives. These hybrids are extremely efficient and half as polluting as normal cars with petrol engines. The good news is you don’t even have to change your beloved car because it can be converted as long as it’s less than six years old. This can be costly but long term it could save you money. There are also several government schemes running that can help you to convert your car. Some manufacturers have already caught onto the benefits of hybrid vehicles. For examples of hybrids look at the Toyota Prius, the Ford Escape and the Honda Accord to name but a few.

Electric cars may be the way ahead for city dwellers. With no emissions and using a quarter of the energy consumption of a similar sized petrol car they may revolutionise driving in the longer term. Although the cars currently on the market only drive at a maximum of 40 mph, they are exempt from tax, some congestion charges and great news for young people… they are in the lowest car insurance group. After the initial outlay of around £8,000 the car is cheap to run and extremely eco-friendly.

The future of fuel

Sulphur free fuel: We can expect to be able to buy this by 2008, in fact this will become compulsory by that date.

Biodiesel: This is a blend of 95% low sulphur diesel and 5% rapeseed oil. This reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 5% and can be used in an engine that hasn’t been converted to this type of fuel.

Bioethanol: Although this could take years to become widely available it produces less air pollutants and is renewable. It is made through the distillation of wheat, sugar or biomass. It can be used blended in unmodified engines or straight in modified engines.

The future of our environment is in our hands. If you can’t afford to buy a hybrid car or convert your engine, you can certainly make a start on your eco friendly lifestyle by following the driving tips above. It’s not too late to decelerate the impact of our polluting behaviour by decelerating our driving. How about from a well-dressed, friendly, middle-aged man or woman, who placed a classified ad in your local newspaper, and who meets you midday at a restaurant of your choice?

Oops! You may be more likely to be cheated by seller number two. That's the story of Jennifer Warwa, who bought a minivan and had her mechanic examine it. The mechanic later said how shocked he was that Jennifer had been scammed:

"Because I met the gentleman who was selling the vehicle. Very clean cut. In his fifties. Very soft spoken.... And he went with her to get it inspected. There was just no sign that was the kind of person he was" the mechanic told CBC's Marketplace.

A few months later, Jennifer got a phone call from the police. They said she had purchased a stolen minivan, and they were coming to seize it. She was so upset, she tried to hide the van from the police. Eventually they caught up with her and she ended up paying for a year and a half for a $5,000 bank loan on a van she could not drive. Ouch!

Jennifer was just one victim in the chain that included the original owner, the insurance company, other consumers whose insurance rates keep rising, and the police, who spend thousands of hours tracking thefts. According to the FBI, a vehicle is stolen about every 25 seconds in the USA, amounting to an $8 billion yearly problem.

Here's how these scams often work. Thieves target particular cars: for their value, their ease of resale as a whole or in parts, or because they are easier to steal. Years ago, most cars were stripped for parts, including unusual parts such as airbags. But today some thieves are so brash they sell cars through newspapers.

This newer scam is called "VIN cloning", because the Vehicle Identification Number is stolen from another car. Criminals obtain VINs by copying them from the dash of cars in parking lots--even at dealerships. Some even physically remove the VIN plate from vehicles in auto salvage yards that allow customers to "pick your own parts." (They do not mean that literally!) The number is used to falsely obtain new ownership documents, or documents are forged. Either way, a cloned VIN allows them to transform stolen cars into pseudo- legal vehicles that can be officially titled and sold. Many thieves work across state lines: cars may be stolen in the East, registered in the Mid-West, then sold in California. Scary!

Here's what you can do to avoid buying a stolen car:
** Check the VIN on the dash against the VIN in the driver's door jamb, under the hood, and on the paperwork
** Use the VIN to get the car's history at carfax.com for about $20
** Ensure title and registration documents match the name and address of the seller
** Is the car from out of state?
** Be suspicious if you must meet a private seller in a parking lot. Better to see that they live at the address where the car is registered
** Has the vehicle recently been transferred?
** Does the seller use a home or work phone number, or just a cell?
** Is the selling price oddly low?
** Be warned that some used car dealers are getting scammed, too
** Pay by certified cheque or money order, not cash.

Keep in mind that most private sellers are not thieves, but rather honest, regular folks like you. And prices do tend to be lower with private sales. So if you follow my advice, you can greatly improve your chances of driving away with a "genuine" used car.

How To Purchase A Used Car

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/RxdzPAWlDYI/AAAAAAAAAXE/UIKA8hE4RoI/s320/sp62248.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="mazda lantis" />

Simple Car Maintenance Tips

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/RxdzswWlDZI/AAAAAAAAAXM/fDS-PonLApg/s320/Evo+5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="evo7" />
You drive your car everyday.

Notice where you park your car and get into the habit of looking to see if there are any leaks when you pull out. This can be very tricky in a public garage with lots of stains from leaks from other cars, but if your car is leaking any type of fluid, transmission, radiator or brake the leak will look "fresh". If you see any fluid leaking have your car serviced as soon as possible.

Keep an eye on your tires. When you have your oil changed every 3,000 miles have your tires rotated. At this time the technician will inspect your tires for any wear. Keep your tires aligned. Check your tire pressure once every month. It's easy enough to read tire gauges and they even have electronic ones. Keeping your tires properly inflated helps increase gas mileage too.

As mentioned above, change your oil at least every 3,000 miles. The oil is the life blood of your car and keeping fresh oil in your car can extends it's life by many, many miles. At this time the technician will check your air filter, hoses and belts.

Keep your windshield washer reservoir full and carry an extra gallon with you. You don't want to be caught without washer fluid, and you don't realize how quickly you use it up, especially in the winter months when we get salt spray on the windshield. Replace your wiper blades once a year.

Following these simples steps can go a long way in prolonging the life of your car

Replacement Exhaust and Headers at Parts Train: Simply the Best

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/Rxd0mAWlDaI/AAAAAAAAAXU/gHCl8UJcr4g/s320/Evo+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="evo engine" />
Control your car's speed and sound with high quality Ford Performance Parts from Parts Train. Car rentals offer the renter the opportunity to drive a car, truck or SUV that they normally would not or could not buy. Renting a car is for a weekend get away, to impress someone or just to have something different to drive for a couple of days are some of the most popular reasons to visit a rental company. However, as fun as it is to rent cars, there are some not so fun things that must happen before you drive it off the lot.

1- Keep in mind that most rental companies will not rent to any driver under the age of 25. If you fall under that magic number, you more than likely will need to get an older relative or friend to sign the actual contract for you.

2- You will of course, need a valid drivers license to rent the car. If you do not have a license, they will not rent to you under any circumstances. Most companies will also require you to reserve your car with the use of a major credit card, however, you can pay in cash if you would prefer.

3- You do not need to have personal auto insurance to rent a car; they will ask you if you would like to purchase their insurance for the duration of the rental contract. If, however, you have your own insurance policy, be sure to call your agent to see if you are covered during your use of a rental car. If your personal auto policy covers you, there is no need to purchase a policy from the rental company.

4- It is wise to call several car rental companies to inquire about prices, car availability and specials. Ask about options such as upgrades, pick up and drop off services, unlimited mileage and weekend versus weekly rental prices. Many companies will also offer special deals to customers who are members of other organizations (i.e. credit unions, warehouse clubs, etc).

5- After you have called around, found the best deal and reserved your choice car; it is time to pick it up. Be sure to have all of your personal paperwork with you, including your auto policy if you will not be buying theirs. Before you sign the contract, read through it and ask any questions you may have.

18 Simple Ways To Save Money On Your Car

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/Rxd12wWlDcI/AAAAAAAAAXk/dtg6C7t0GPE/s320/fuel.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="save fuel" />
The upkeep of your vehicle can be quite an expense - from initial purchase to insurance to maintenance. And sometimes we get the sinking feeling that every time we need a car repair, we’re going to get taken for a ride. (pardon the pun!) Actually there are some ways to make sure you don’t get a raw deal when dealing with a local body shop.

After you get recommendations for honest mechanics, call around to check out the prices for certain jobs. It’s always smart to get a second opinion.

How about some preventative medicine? Keep your gas tank filled. This will help you avoid the gas line freezing up in cold weather. Also, driving on “fumes” allows little pieces of dirt at the bottom of your gas tank to run through the fuel lines with the last drops of gas. This debris clogs up the fuel filter and can cause carburetor damage as well.

Sometimes a problem with your car’s electrical system results from a simple blown fuse. Check to see if you have any blown fuses before investing in a tow truck!

Keep track of how much oil your car uses. A sudden change in oil consumption means you need to see a technician.

Save your brakes by having your brake fluid changed every 30,000 miles.

Check your tire pressure once a month. This simple maintenance check can add up savings at the gas pump!

Stop and go traffic causes excess wear and tear on your vehicle. Go ahead and give your car a nice twenty minute ride at 55 mph on the highway every couple weeks if you “major” in short trips.

There are other ways to save money on car expenses. Let’s look at the insurance payments.

If you’ve budgeted for possible out-of-pocket expenses in case of a car accident, you might want to consider increasing your insurance deductible to $500. This will lower the cost of your insurance.

Talk to your insurance agent. If your car is as old as the hills, you might want to drop collision coverage to save money.

Car insurance companies offer a variety of discounts. Ask your agent if the company offers reductions for driver training courses, anti-lock brakes, car alarms, air bags, mature drivers, good students or maintaining a good driving record.

Before you purchase from a dealer, ask about the dealer's return policy, get it in writing and read it carefully. Dealers are not required by law to give used car buyers a three-day right to cancel.

Visit http://www.fueleconomy.gov to find cars that are fuel efficient.

Each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.10 per gallon for gas.

In most cases, using cruise control on the highway will save gas.

Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your car's gas mileage by as much as 10 percent. This isn’t going to cost you an arm or leg either.

Do your homework when buying a car from an auction. Many vehicles that have been damaged by floods and hurricanes are going on the market. These won’t last long – leaving you with a flood of bills. Be a little concerned if the carpet looks too new, and check carefully for signs of rust.

Carfax.com shares info on inspecting a used car to make sure you get the best deal.

If you use your car for business, keep track of miles traveled so that you can use this for a tax deduction. Get more info at irs.gov.

When you consider all the ways you can save money on your current vehicle, you might be persuaded to put away the extra each month for a new car down the road!

5 Ways to Find Volvo Parts

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/Rxd2bAWlDdI/AAAAAAAAAXs/SMsh8wQmbuk/s320/02032007(003).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="crank shaft" />
You love your Volvo, right. However, its time to replace a part, it could something that is hidden like a fan belt or a prominent piece of the vehicle such as the emblem or steering wheel. It really doesn't matter what part needs replacing, what matters is the quality and price of the replacement part. You have worked hard for your Volvo and you deserve genuine Volvo replacement parts. These tips will explain the best way to locate these parts.

1- When you are looking for a replacement part, be it a replacement visor or a clutch master cylinder, the array of available sources can be hard to sift through. If price is not a concern for you, the dealership is one of the best choices around and even if price is an issue, the dealer is usually the best place to start. They will be able to give you an approximate price and may even be willing to give you some installation tips as well.

2- If the dealer is out of your price range, there are many more avenues to pursue. Looking online for a part is an obvious choice, and a good one. There is so much information available online that it is almost overwhelming. A good place to start searching for the Volvo part that you need is in forums, these can be in regards to the general subject of cars or specialized for Volvos in particular. The people that frequent these forums range in knowledge from experts to the people who just drove their new car off the lot. When you do find and expert, they are usually more than willing to help you in any way possible, after all, they are Volvo owners who love their cars too.

3- While online, be sure to look over the websites of car part dealers. These websites offer the chance to see pictures and read user reviews of the parts you are contemplating. Online websites may also offer free shipping or deeply discounted price as well as delivering to you door.

4- Swap meets and auctions can also be great places to find the Volvo parts you are looking for. You can find both swap meets and auctions on and offline, of course, there are advantages and disadvantages to both. The online swap meet and auction allows you to do business with people from all over the world, however, you are relying on pictures and some ones' word that they will deliver. On the other hand, local swap meets and auctions will have less people to deal with, but you can see and handle the products that they have available as well as take them home if you desire.

5- Above all, have fun during your search for the volvo parts that you need, even if it's only a fan belt. The item itself is not as important as the knowledge that you are giving your car what it deserves, the best Volvo parts you can afford.

Some Useful Tips for Improving your Dodge's Fuel Economy

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/Rxd27gWlDeI/AAAAAAAAAX0/qco8WK7JSsk/s320/Eclipse+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="eclipse" />
As global oil prices continue to rise meteorically to record levels, we have to find ways to improve our cars' fuel economy and save money. Especially now that drivers are doing a lot more traveling than ever, the importance of fuel economy cannot be over emphasized. The Environmental Protection Agency reports that vehicle miles traveled by the average American has increased by over 115%. This increase in miles traveled and the present dilemma of rising fuel prices means that we are spending more on our fuel than ever before. Thus, we have to find ways to save money on gas and improve fuel efficiency, especially if our vehicles are not really known for their excellent gas mileage.

There are many ways you can significantly improve the fuel economy of your vehicle. Managing your vehicle by minimizing operating costs on gas as well as minimizing emissions is our goal. Here are some helpful tips you can use to help you achieve a fuel-efficient and environmentally conscious vehicle. Start by determining your car's actual gas mileage or your car's miles per gallon. If your car has poor gas mileage then it is more important than ever to start improving your fuel economy. You can do this by changing your driving habits. Take your time and drive slower, instead of 60mph, try driving at 70mph. Although it may take you longer to reach your destination, what is important is you can save up to $5 in gas costs because of the reduction in speed. This is because aerodynamic drag increases as you drive faster and gas mileage deteriorates at speeds of over 60mph.

Regular maintenance is a very effective way to improve and keep up your car's fuel economy. The simple reason is that a poorly maintained car works harder; and a car that has to work harder will definitely use up more fuel. Thus, maintenance issues such as under inflated tires, dirty and clogged air filters, spark plugs and fuel injectors must be resolved. Make sure that your tires are inflated to their proper pressures. Tires that are in good condition and properly inflated provide less road resistance thus improving fuel. You should also check tire pressure regularly and look out for signs of uneven wear or gas leaks that could compromise your tire's performance.

Another excellent way to cut your fuel costs is by planning your vehicle use in such a way that you can combine, streamline and consolidate your trips and reduce unnecessary travel. You should also avoid excess idling, which is a waste of fuel. Stop your engine if you think your car will be idle for more than 30 seconds. You can also minimize air conditioning and use your car's flow-through ventilation. You should also check which gas you use, stick with the right octane gas indicated in your car's manual.

Have your Dodge regularly checked by your trusted auto mechanic. Give more attention to those auto parts that are connected to the fuel consumption of your car such as Dodge fuel tanks, Dodge catalytic converters, Dodge gas tanks, Dodge radiators and others. If your Dodge's parts are either defective or is not functioning properly then it is necessary and wise to replace these auto parts as soon as possible. You can save more money in the end by replacing dysfunctional parts and ensuring that everything in your car is in tiptop shape.

However, make sure that you purchase the best Dodge Parts only from a trusted and reliable auto parts store. Pick an auto parts supplier with an excellent reputation in the auto parts industry. Inner Auto Parts is one of the many auto parts wholesalers today, but stands out from the rest because it is a reliable source of useful and relevant automotive information and a known expert in the field of auto parts. They now have an excellent auto parts store that offers top quality Dodge Parts including Dodge A/C Condensers, Dodge Lights, Dodge Weatherstripping, Dodge wheels and other major product categories. Before making this purchase, there should be ample consideration given to the quality of the car cover itself. Follow these tips while searching for the perfect cover for your perfect car.

1- While looking for a car cover for your vehicle, keep in mind that quality is a factor in this purchase. The better the quality, the better the cover will protect your investment. Look for a cover that is made specifically for your type of car. Many car cover manufacturers offer a variety of pre-made covers for most types of cars. The cover does not need to be custom made for your vehicle, just made for your specific kind of car.

2- If purchase price is not an issue, then it be might be wise to consider a custom-made car cover. This will ensure that the cover doesn't blow away in a strong wind, will have elastic in all the right spots, can have extra layers of protection built in. The custom cover can even be made in a color to match your car or with some custom embroidery that is just for you.

3- The material that the cover is made from is important also. It needs to be breathable, if the cover holds in moisture it will have dire consequences on your paint. The cover is not supposed to be waterproof, it should, however, dry out quickly after a rain, so that the rain spots are minimal on the paint finish.

4- A cover that has several layers of padding is best for the protection of your vehicle. These added layers will protect your car against such tragedies as limbs falling from trees, the neighbors' cats, stray baseballs and the like.

5- Before you place the perfect cover that you have found on your car, make sure it is clean. A dirty car will be scratched and scuffed no matter what quality cover you put on it. However, having a clean car to start with will help to ensure a well-protected car through the long months in storage.

7 Things to Know when Renting a Car

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/Rxd4cgWlDgI/AAAAAAAAAYE/AHAs2R4JIfY/s320/Hybrid+4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="honda hybrid" />
In today's society, there are a number of reasons why people rent a car. Some of the top reasons are vacations, a car they own is in the shop and renting a nicer car for a special occasion. Whatever the reason that you are considering renting a car; there are some things that you should know first.

1- It is wise to shop around when looking for to rent a car. Always find at least three rental car companies to compare, although more will be better. Be sure to ask all the companies the same questions to get the most accurate answers. Most rental car companies will have websites online to find basic information, but it is best to call as local branches may have deals that are not advertised online.

2- When you call, be sure to ask about price, vehicle availability, as well as any specials that the branch has to offer. It is worth noting here, that many of these companies will have special arrangements with hotels, airlines or even warehouse stores.

3- You will want to ask about any special instructions that are required of you while renting the car, for example, filling up the gas tank or pick up and drop off times. Not adhering to these policies can result in fees.

4- Many companies that will rent a car to you will also be willing to either deliver the car to you or pick you up and take you to your rental. This service may require a fee, but can be worth asking about if you are flying to your destination.

5- The rental company may offer you insurance to purchase, however, your personal auto insurance may be all you need in the event of an accident with a rental car. Call your auto insurance agent and ask before paying extra at the rental counter.

6- There are a number of choices that are open to you when renting a car. Each class of car will vary in price and gas mileage; consider this when making your decision. While many companies may be willing to upgrade you, this is not always the case. It is wise to choose the car you want and hope for an upgrade than to reserve less of a car and be disappointed when an upgrade is not offered.

7- Have a credit or debit card handy to reserve the rental car with, most companies will only guarantee a car with this assurance.

Steps to A Great Rental Car Experience

There are times in one's life when the use of rental cars cannot be avoided. When someone plows into you at an intersection, when you are taking a 2-day trip and your compact car just does not have enough room to stretch out, these are times when you are happy that there are rental cars at your disposal. Before you rent that car, though, you should know some things about the process.

1- The first step involved in obtaining a rental car is to do research on the companies in your local area. There are a number of nation wide companies and more than likely local companies to choose from when conducting your research. Try to narrow them down to three or four companies that are closest to either your pick up location or your destination.

2- You will want to ask about procedures that may be required by the rental company. Many companies require that the car be fueled up before its return, if this is not done, they will charge you extra for it. It may also be in your best interest to ask what the fee would be if the car is needed for longer than expected as well as what the rate is for late drop off.

3- If you have personal auto insurance, call your agent to see if you are insured with a rental car as well. This will allow you to save money by turning down the insurance offered by the rental company at the time of vehicle pick up.

4- Finally, you have chosen the company and the car, its time to pick it up. Make sure that you have the paper work that you will need. Most companies will require you to show your drivers license, be sure to have it. Also, your proof of auto insurance, if you will be turning their insurance down. A major credit card is necessary; if you are not using cash to rent your car, do not count on them taking a check.

5- Be sure to read the contract and ask questions about anything that you do not understand. It's better to take sometime at the counter or on the phone to pin down the details, than to think you got it and have to deal with the company in the event of an accident. Ask questions!

Auto insurance, reduce costs but maintain protection

Auto insurance is a legal requirement in every US state and Canadian province. Costs are continuing to rise. How can you reduce some of these expenses and still get the best coverage?

First, get multiple quotes from the Internet and your neighborhood broker. You can shop for different types of quotes from a direct-sell insurance companies and offline and online brokers.

Auto insurance that is cheapest isn’t always the smartest move. Ask yourself, is the company financially secure? Are they reputable and will they pay out if you have to make a claim.

The first piece of the policy is almost always liability insurance. If you only have minimum liability coverage and you injure someone, their attorney can go after your personal assets. Many insurers feel that minimum liability is a gamble. In fact, that is why it is often only a little more money for more protection.

Auto insurance varies on car types. Coverage for a sports car is very different from insuring the family sedan or mini-van.

If you are looking to buy a car, consider buying a car that "looks good" to insurance companies. For instance, insurance companies know what kinds of cars are prone to problems. They also know what kinds of cars are most often stolen. If you haven't purchased your car yet, find out what cars make this "good list" among auto insurers.

Consider how much coverage you really need to buy and the price each of these coverages will pay. Think about collision and comprehensive coverage, which is how much you will be reimbursed for the loss or destruction of your vehicle. Are you carrying $30,000 worth of collision coverage for a $12,000 vehicle?

If your car was totaled, would you be able to afford to replace it? If not, you will want comprehensive and collision coverage.

The decision to buy this coverage is usually based on the value of your car. Guidelines usually suggest that if your car is worth less than $2,000, it won't be worth it to buy comprehensive and collision.

If you own a $50,000 car though, it would most certainly be worth it to pay an extra $200 annually or so to insure that your car will be replaced if you get in a serious accident.

If you’re driving a used car from 10 years ago, dropping collision and/or comprehensive coverage can usually give big savings.

Run through various scenarios such as if I totaled someone else's car, will my insurance cover it? How much will I have to pay out of my own pocket?

Paying a higher deductible can also keep your policy costs down. Remember, the deductible is what you pay out of own pocket when making a claim.

Buying a low mileage car and insuring with a good driving record, will all help bring insurance rates down. Don’t speed, don’t drink and drive and you’ll save.

Single, young males under the age of 25 get the short end of the stick in this deal so if you fall into this category make up for this price increase by purchasing a more sensible vehicle. Consider delaying the purchase of that cherry red Mustang until after you’re 26 and married.

Keep yourself adequately covered. You can get away with having the bare minimums required by each state to keep you in compliance with state laws, but that may not be enough to protect your assets if you have a major incident.

Insurance experts recommend that you review your insurance policy often and thoroughly.

Many insurance companies offer discounts for anti-theft devices and advanced driver-training courses.

About the author:
Auto-insurancenews.com by Drew Harris is a one-stop-shop website for those looking for everything related to Auto Insurance. No matter how old or new it is or whether it’s a known model or not, we give it special treatment as it provides as efficient, safe and comfortable means of transportation as well as enjoyment.

It is inevitable for a vehicle to experience common car problems; this is especially true if the model is already old. Among the most destructive and the most annoying problems is rust. This affects almost all auto parts, especially those exposed to moisture. The body panels, including the doors, the fenders, the hood and the tailgate are of course among the most vulnerable. When damaged by rust, these auto parts become weak and not only that, they become ugly too. Replacement may be your only solution.

Replacement Parts from Auto Parts Inner

Tailgate. Most pickup trucks have tailgates; this is a kind of door attached and protecting the truck bed. As a door to the rear part of the truck, it is often slammed when being closed; thus, it becomes vulnerable to damages. Moreover, trucks are often used off-road, so they are more exposed to damaging factors in the environment including salt, which hastens the formation of rust.

Auto Parts Inner offers the most durable Chevy tailgate, GMC tailgate and Ford tailgate. Designed like the original, these replacement auto parts are sure to give you lasting and the most efficient service. They are also made to endure the toughest driving conditions in which you may use your vehicles.

Hood. The hood is one of the most important body parts as this is used to protect the most vital parts of the car such as the engine. Just like the door and the tailgate, this must be rigid and tough to be able to give the best protection to parts underneath.

Since the hood has a metal covering that is exposed to harsh elements in the environment, the hood is also very susceptible to rust. Because of this, proper care is needed. It must be kept clean all the time and make sure the drain holes around the hood are clear so water can't pass through and cause rust.

Available at Auto Parts Inner are top of the line replacement Jeep hoods. Jeep replacement hoods are designed and loaded with high-quality composite construction and tough material to match the original Jeep hoods. Every Jeep hood is built to exacting tolerances in precision mold to fit a specific Jeep automobile. These are also equipped with rear braces for hood hinges and hood catches for an easy installation.

You can find out more of the body panels and Auto Parts Inner's available replacement auto parts at the store's web site. You can go to its How Cars Work section for more Auto Parts Information on several auto parts, auto makes and models, automotive systems and so much more.

Meanwhile, check out these simple yet useful tips on how to prevent rust in your car:

1. Keep your car clean and well waxed.

2. Rinse the underside with water when salt is in use or if you live in a salty area.

3. Keep your wheel wells clean and free from material that holds moisture, such as dirt or leaves.

4. Make sure that all drain holes in the frame, floor and bottoms of doors are clear.

5. After you wash your car, open the doors to let the water drain out.

Many car manufacturers void corrosion warranty if you have your car rustproofed. (Rust proofing is a treatment of waxy paste sprayed inside the body panels by an "after market" specialist. The specialist drills holes in hidden areas, sprays in the paste, and plugs the holes. Another type of rustproofing is a clear silicon-based spray that is applied to your paint to protect it from chemicals and pollution.) The best course is to take the rust preventative measures listed above.

Getting The Best Price For Your Used Car

You can get the best price for your used car only when a new care of the same model is being sold at the highest price. If a manufacturer gives discounted prices for a new car of the same model, you can’t sell your car at the best price. In other words, the best time to sell your used car is when the prices for the model you have are at the highest. Hence the important factor that affects the price of a used car is the price of a new car of that model you own. So it is better to wait until the price of a new car of your model goes up rather than selling it when the manufacturer gives discounts for a new car of your model.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_JeSqlMgBcyY/SBkr9JeTXCI/AAAAAAAABVg/BTRCN7XIUCg/s400/Hybrid+5.jpg" border="0" alt="Getting The Best Price For Your Used Car"id="Getting The Best Price For Your Used Car" />
Preparing your car for selling it is a must. You have to consider what the potential buyer thinks of your car. So you have to maintain the interior and the exteriors of your car properly. If your car is not clean inside and out, the potential buyer may not think positively about your car. This simple issue might make you lose a possible deal. Therefore proper maintenance of your car is essential to fetch a good price for your used car. Some people might overlook some serious problems in the car if the car looks shiny and glowing. Touch up scratches on the exterior and interior. Make up the small dents in it. Balance the tires properly. Clean inside and out. This might fetch you a profitable deal.

The price of your car should take into consideration the mileage and the condition of the car. One of the systems in an automobile that resembles that of a human being is the exhaust system. This system allows the car to exhale the air it had inhaled and consumed. Cars, however, breathes in and exhales air mechanically; thus, once a part in the system is damaged, it can be easily replaced with an upgraded unit and so the system can continue to function.

Replacing a part or adding aftermarket parts to domestic and import cars has never been easier than replacing or adding them nowadays with the existence of thousands of auto parts stores catering to various needs of auto users. The easiest way to purchase them today is through online stores. The country's leading online auto parts dealer, Auto Parts Online, now features thousands of superior quality engine parts and exhaust system parts, including those for Honda. These auto parts can help your engine respire more efficiently and thus, perform better.

What actually happens in your Honda engine parts. is almost the same as what happens in other cars' engine. The pistons inside the cylinder move up and down and those four movements make up the combustion cycle. But before this, engine must receive enough amount of air to be burned with fuel. One way of improving your Honda engine's performance is to allow cleaner air to enter the engine. You can do this by cleaning or replacing worn out air filter. Likewise, the way the air and fuel are drawn and pumped into the engine is vital to the engine's maximum power output; thus, other auto parts such as the fuel pump, the fuel injection and fuel lines must be checked for any sign of defect. Replacing seriously damaged parts is imperative.

It is equally important for the engine parts to be functioning in excellent condition—from the cylinder head to the crankshaft, the valvetrain, the pistons and the piston rings. No matter how small these parts are, they significantly affect the way the engine burns the air-fuel mixture. Find these parts at Auto Parts Online. Here you can find Honda engine parts at their best, plus great Auto Parts Discountdeals to complete your shopping satisfaction.

Also available at great Auto Parts Discount deals are exhaust system parts for Honda. Combustion cycle doesn't stop at the compression stage wherein the air and fuel mixture is prepared for ignition. After the spark plug has fired and ignited the mixture, excess gases are pushed by the piston out of the cylinder towards the exhaust system.

You might think that the mere functions of the exhaust system are to remove and clean excess gas from the engine, but the way it does these can significantly affect the engine’s performance. The more exhaust gasses this system is able to remove from the engine, the more it is helping the engine fit in more air and fuel for another combustion process. So for a more efficient exhaustion, you can replace your Honda exhaust manifold with a high-flow exhaust manifold or header. Also, you can shift to a more efficient high-flow designed Honda Catalytic Converter. Get the finest quality products to ensure your maximum satisfaction, get these at your most trusted Auto Parts Store, Auto Parts Online.

A Guide to U-Haul Trailer Hitches -

U-Haul is best known for its rental trucks used to help people move, but they also sell trailer hitches and trailer hitch accessories. This article will give you some tips you can use to better keep track of your car fuel mileage consumption.

On one fine evening, a subscriber of mine wrote me the following,

"Dear Sunny,

I bought my first car, a Nissan Sunny 130Y, three months ago, It runs extremely well and I've had no major problems since. But I'm curious as to its actual fuel consumption. Can that be measured without sophisticated electronic devices so I could learn to start increase gas mileage of my car in more efficient way?

What are the methods a layman like me can use to measure fuel consumption?

Janice"

To be frank, fuel consumption varies widely. It all depends on the way you drive your vehicle, your car make, and the type of traffic condition it encounters. These circumstances affect the actual fuel efficiency of your car.

For instance, if you drive mainly in urban areas where you'll see lots of traffic jam, you are likely to lose up much more gas money compared to when you are cruising along the highway.

Enough said, your fuel economy will suffer when you are stuck in the jam. Jack rabbit starts and heavy braking of your vehicle may contribute to your increased fuel consumption as well. All these factors may not contribute to your ways to save fuel.

Here's my tip to measure your fuel consumption of your vehicle and to get the best possible gas mileage reading of your car.

First, you would start by filling up your vehicle tank to the brim and then adjusting the trip meter to zero. You could do that just by resetting the meter.

Next, drive the vehicle until at least two-thirds of the tank has been used before you fill up again. During this time, please take note of the amount of fuel you are filling up against the distance that you have travelled since the last time you topped up.

Fuel consumption, in kilometres per litre, is calculated by dividing the reading on your trip meter by the amount of fuel that you have filled up.

Based on my experience, it is best that you average out the results by repeating the same procedures and take measurements over a few weeks to obtain the average of the best consumption figure for your vehicle.

Some car manufacturers will state the fuel consumption figures of the cars in the manual. Please be aware that these figures were obtained under strict test conditions and surveillance and also on an almost perfect road surface.

So don't be alarmed when you notice the variance of the actual fuel mileage result you get against the manufacturers' figures.

To really find out your actual car fuel consumption and to diagnose any sudden drop of fuel efficiency, you should keep track of your fuel consumption regularly as it is the best and surest way to tell when something is going on with your car.

Once you've realized how easy it is to keep track of your car fuel consumption, you should be on your way to seriously consider some of the ways you could do to increase gas mileage even when you are pumping gas in the gas stations.

Believe me, not everyone is aware of some of the stuff you could do to top up additional gas mileage. All these have been documented in my book "Gas Mileage Tactics" available at http://www.extragasmileage.com

Auto Parts Fast Features High Quality Parts to Improve Your Honda's Fuel Mileage

We can't deny it; we all need cars for us to live life normally everyday. Even if we have to go back to the basics to cut high costs of living, we cant really do without cars. They have become necessities in life through the years. However, some vehicles are harder to maintain and consumes more fuel; thus for some, they are pain in the neck—and the pocket—rather than helpful driving machines. But don't worry, there are many ways to improve gas mileage; though you may have to replace some of your stock auto parts.

Auto Parts Fast, one of the country's top auto parts dealers features the best quality replacement and aftermarket parts, which can help you solve gas mileage problems. If you are particularly looking for Honda parts, you can find here a comprehensive line of premium quality Honda engine parts, Honda cooling system parts, Honda body parts and Honda performance parts that can enhance not only your fuel economy but can also help you reduce harmful emissions and significantly improve performance.

The first thing you can do to improve fuel economy is to check on your engine. Make sure your engine is receiving enough air for the combustion and for its cooling. If it is not able to breathe in more air, replace filter or use bigger throttle body and premium quality performance intake manifold. Likewise, check on the way your engine exhales through the exhaust system. You should use a high-flow muffler to boost the car's performance as well as to improve fuel mileage.

Like other exhaust system parts of your Honda, the Honda Catalytic Converter improves performance and fuel mileage too as it converts gaseous wastes produced after the combustion into less harmful emissions. A clogged cat prevents exhaust gases from flowing smoothly out of the engine; thus, it won't be able to clean them properly. This in effect would require the engine to work harder thus, more fuel is consumed. If you're starting to smell something like rotten eggs, you already need to replace your Honda catalytic converter.

If you are in need of Honda catalytic converters, you can shop at Auto Parts Fast, your most trusted online dealer of millions of top quality auto parts. You can find here high-flow catalytic converters for Honda Accord sedan, Honda Accord coupe, Honda Civic, Honda CR-V and other Honda models for just about half the original price.

Improving the aerodynamics of your car can also help you reduce fuel consumption. Race cars are usually fitted with spoilers and ground effects to improve aerodynamics and thus, its acceleration and fuel economy. You can also add a Honda spoiler on your car to help reduce wind resistance; however, this is more effective when applied to race cars. However, you can also replace your Honda Rims, Honda Mirrors, and other body panels with lighter auto parts. Aside from giving your car a new look, swapping hoods and other body parts can help your vehicle run more smoothly and faster. A Honda hood with rear-facing scoop would be a good alternative, too.

Another way to improve gas mileage is by replacing your worn out Honda Wheels and tires. The tires may be particularly running low and thus they need to be aired up sufficiently. Lastly, make sure your engine is cooled properly so it can work more efficiently. You can replace Honda Radiators or add auxiliary Honda radiator fan for more efficient cooling of the engine. These are also available at Auto Parts Fast.

Other auto parts offered in this store are bumpers, A/C condensers, grille, mirror, lights, windshield, suspension parts and a whole lot more. Aside from Honda parts, the store offers top of the line Toyota Parts, Nissan Parts, BMW Parts, Chevrolet Parts, GMC Parts, VW Parts, Jeep Parts and a lot more. Fast, complete and secure, this auto parts store is the perfect solution to your fuel mileage problems.

Online Store Offers the Best Replacement and Aftermarket Parts for Top-Selling Full-Size Pickups

Full-size pickup owners could now enjoy greater chance to upgrade their truck and make their old vehicle comparable with the latest in the industry in terms of performance, comfort, style and safety features.
